How can I apply to be a vendor/volunteer/skill sharer/artist?

We are full for 2025. In the future–Click on our participate page! It will direct you to forms to fill out if you’d like to participate. Please note, however, that application does not guarantee you a spot. For volunteers/vendors we will respond to your application shortly unless we have moved to the waitlist, in which case you will only hear from us if a spot opens up. For participants in the music and demonstrations components, we do not have the capacity to respond unless we have an opening for you, but your information will be kept for future reference.

What is the difference between the Crooked River and Fairgrounds sites?

Crooked River: There are opportunities for camping and dry/off grid RV camping within that property scattered around the woodland, with a few choice sites in view of the river. Showers and indoor restrooms are a short walk away on the Fairgrounds. Portable restrooms (cleaned multiple times daily) and town water spigots are available throughout the woodland campground directly near the camping areas.

The music, vendors, and demonstrations, will all take place within the area of the Crooked River Woodlands known as “Lester’s Flatts”.

The Ossipee Fairgrounds right next door (you can walk between sites on woodland paths/gravel roads) is where you can find indoor restrooms, showers, RV hookup camping and dump station, and extremely accessible sites with flat, sandy gravel roads, open fields, and plenty of shade trees. There will not be any scheduled events on this property, it will just function as camping and contains the fields we use for day parking.

Both sites are easy to get around in a car, and very walkable with many paths. While they total 60 acres overall, you can easily drive through the perimeter of the camping areas of both properties in less than 15 minutes. There will be a shuttle “DOWN THE HILL” between the two areas!

Do I get assigned a particular RV site if I book it in advance?

No, which site you get is first come first serve. We are just guaranteeing that you will have a site. Please note, these sites were built many decades ago and they are generally only 15-18′ wide, and have 30 amp service.

Is there a map?

Is there a shuttle? How handicap accessible is it?

There is a shuttle between 12-8pm down the hill (between the Ossipee Fairgrounds and the Crooked River Woodlands/Crooked River Stage), and the dayparking. If you have a handicap sticker you will also be able to drive down the hill and park down there. Golf carts and all terrain scooters are also welcome to make the drive.

Can I camp with my RV on the riverfront sites at Crooked River Woodlands

No–these are walk-in or drop off tenting sites as they are within 250′ of the river in a protected wilderness zone. We will have portapotties available in these areas, but cars and RVs are not allowed. However, we will have space for off-grid trailers and RVs to park in the back of the field where the stage is, so as long as you are OK being off grid, you can have a site very close to the stage! Just not on the river. Tents are limited in capacity along the river.

Can I fill up my water system and camp off-grid? What about dumping?

Yes–there is a dump station on site and anyone who pays for the RV hookup package automatically gets a dump. Additional dumps are $20/dump. There are also water spigots available at the entrance to the fairgrounds which can be used to fill your tanks.

Can I use a generator?

Generators are allowed between 10am-2pm daily, except in quiet camping

Do you have Quiet Camping?

Yes! At the far western end of the Ossipee Fairgrounds. Quiet hours are 9pm-9am.

Is this the same location/event organizers as the Ossipee Valley Music Festival? What’s the difference?

It is the same location as the Ossipee Valley Music Festival. The North Atlantic Arts Alliance is the principal organizer for both events. However, the events are quite different, and attract different groups of people.

The Ossipee Valley Music Festival features many genres of music from around the world, on a variety of acoustic and electric instruments, with five stages, dances, workshops, and an educational string camp, a large selection of food and craft vendors, and scheduled events that go until 2am. The festival occurs in July, with its headliner shows occurring on Friday and Saturday. The event attracts over 6,000 people.

The Crooked River gathering focuses specifically on bluegrass and old time music, acoustic based, with one stage running from 12-8pm daily, along with a few open mics and performer led jams. The focus is on mostly regional performers, with some nationally touring acts. Additionally, Crooked River features a second element because it offers a focus on agricultural and homesteading, with educational workshops and skill sharing opportunities at popup tents throughout the event. Attendees can hear some music, go on a mushroom walk, head over to a food truck for lunch, then learn how to ferment sourdough bread or make the most use of their garden beds, see the headliner on the stage, and then head back to their campsite to cook dinner and play tunes, going to sleep by 10pm, or staying up late to jam with their friends. It’s a more “crunchy and low key vibe”, (whatever that means!) and is generally significantly less crowded than the Ossipee Valley Music Festival.

Is this an event to replace the Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival?

Unfortunately for all of us, the Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival on the coast of Maine, ended after forty-five magical years when the property was sold. The event, if you’ve been to it, is irreplaceable. This event will not try to become a “replacement” for what TPB offered. It cannot. However, it will be held on the same weekend, in southern Maine, and will include a presentation of bluegrass music among other things. We hope that many folks who attended TPB in the past will find a home at Crooked River, sharing tunes around the campfire, enjoying the music, and exploring what new offerings Crooked River has in store! The style of music presented will be very similar, though we are starting with a heavier focus on regional artists and hope to grow. Unlike at Thomas Point Beach there will be additional elements to the event such as the agricultural/homesteading demonstrations and skill sharing meetups. You will find more information on those events on the Event Lineup page (announced in full no later than May 15th).

Many of the people who were previously involved with the presentation/promotion and community of Thomas Point Beach are collaboratively involved in the design of this event, so we hope that much of the spirit (including Aqua and Gold!) will have a home at Crooked River.

Do you allow dogs?

Yes, dogs are $65 per dog, with a maximum of two dogs per tenting/RV group. Dogs will wear a wristband on their collar, and are not allowed in the workshop/concert/vending area. They are only allowed with overnight camping (full weekend ticket) attendees, and only in designated dog friendly areas (contact us/map coming soon). Please note that service dogs are FREE, and can be in the concert area, but ESA animals do not count towards that, ESA animals must pay the fee and adhere to the rules.

Where are fires allowed, what are the rules?

Fires are allowed in raised metal containers no larger than 3x3x3 only, and anywhere in Crooked River Woodlands, and only along the outer perimeter road of the Ossipee Fairgrounds (this is where most of the sites are, it just excludes the area where all the buildings and barns are in the center of the fairgrounds, as fires must be 50′ from any building). If the conditions are very dry, (using state fire danger guidelines) we will not allow fires.

Will there be ice and firewood for sale

Yes! We will have a mobile vendor selling ice, and another vendor selling firewood.
